Acevedo & McPherson, Key West
I was told by someone who attended the recent Key West Business Guild mixer at the Bottlecap Lounge that Mayor Morgan McPherson, after making a speech about Pride Fest, proudly announced that his wife, Christina would be the new principal of Key West High School, replacing John Welsh, whom School Superintendent Randy Acevedo had said he was going to let go, to save the school system money. This person said Morgan’s announcement didn’t seem to go over well with the audience, and that Morgan and Randy are close friends and are seen together at many functions.
I said maybe John Welsh should be appointed by Governor Christ to be our interim School Superintendent, until the next election. I said Randy started down when he promoted his wife, Monique, from a position for which she was not legally qualified to a position for which she was not legally qualified, and he waited over a year to tell the School Board. From her new unqualified position, Monique apparently went on a personal spending rampage with school funds. What also bothers me is Christina McPherson apparently was the person at the high school who was in charge of supervising Monique’s activities with the high 9th grade, where many of the spending abuses are alleged to have taken place. What was going on in Morgan’s mind, making that announcement at the Bottlecap? Did he not see that he should have told his wife to decline the promotion, in the face of John Welsh being one of the people who has been so critical of Monique and who is claiming whistleblower protection?
Along the same lines is this comment made online to the Key West Citizen blog, which was forwarded to me last night by former sheriff candidate Sandy Downs. Behind it is Sandy’s explanation of the MARC House intrigue, which Sandy said is part of why Randy also was indicted (day before yesterday), and arrested, cuffed and booked (yesterday).

At Key West High’s class night, I heard Mrs. MacPherson was replacing Mr. Welsh as principal. RANDY, you have lost it. I have known you since you were born. I remember Linda having both you and your brother, and I could and would not beleive all I was reading, but NOW to know you are appointing the MAYOR’s wife amd I mean APPOINTING, the MAYOR’s wife to replace a man who has GIVEN and not TAKEN so much to this community, you should be ashamed. I asked Mr. Welsh last night if he wanted to leave and he said “No!”. I am so preplexed at your behavior, I know you were raised better. You have alligned yourself with the bottom feeders. I personally will do that silly saying you have “Whatever it Takes!” to make sure Mr. Welsh stays until HE is ready to leave. Don’t you know all the lives he has touched not to mention all the EXTRA hours he has given this community. The woman has “NO” experience as a principal and has never worked a job other than Key West High School, must ledd (much less) her husband has never worked a job period. I will tell you, you have cost him many votes as well. I am going spread the word at ever social event I
attend to be against everything and anything you do because of your treatment of such a fine man. SHAME ON YOU RANDY ACEVEDO. And to the MacPherson’s, you are back stabbers!!!

Godspeed and victory to John Welsh who says he will fight for his job!!!! Welsh was the lontime principal of Key West High School who lined up against Monique Acevedo for stealing his 9th grade kids’ money, and was today fired by Randy Acevedo….only to be replaced with Randy’s longtime friend’s wife, Christina McPherson, wife of the “Reverand McPherson” aka the Mayor of Key West…Morgan McPherson. Have they no shame? Do they not believe a word they speak in their church????? Why do they even call
it a church?????

When Randy was asked about his wife’s purchases back in February, one of the items he was questioned about was a Satellite Radio. This type of radio is for a vehicle and it picks up thousands of stations all over the country with no commercials. You can program it to only pick up certain artists, or certain types of music, etc. It’s a really nice gadget to have, and fairly expensive.
Monique said it was purchased for the MARC house van in 2005 and was still being used and paid for by the School District in 2009. Randy backed Monique up, and brought forth a letter allegedly from the MARC house written to him on Feb 10, 2009 saying they no longer needed the radio, (and explaining about the long rides with handicapped people and they thought it would be a good idea, but turns out it wasn’t so they don’t need it anymore.)
Problem is the MARC house never had the radio and never wrote that letter to Randy that he produced. Even though it was on their stationery and addressed to Mr. Acevedo, and looking official and all, it wasn’t. As a matter of fact, the MARC house no longer even used that stationery because the officers on the top were not correct anymore….and the letter also had no signature of anyone at the bottom.
So in an effort to convince those questioning Randy about this radio, Randy himself it seems drafted up a letter to himself from himself saying the radio was not needed any longer by the MARC house and it was dated February 10, 2009. He apparently was trying to convince anyone who questioned him with this letter that the radio really was at the MARC house all of this time. Well, the MARC house said they never wrote the letter, and indeed did not use the outdated stationery Randy used…presumably he just took an old MARC house letter and photocopied it and whited out the contents, and then just made a letter from that so it appeared the MARC house had sent it to him. And it started Dear Mr. Acevedo……… Well Randy himself produced that letter to Reitzel to try and quell her worries that maybe Monique had purchased that radio for the Acevedo’s instead of the MARC house, and I guess he thought the letter would persuade her. Instead the letter got him arrested. I don’t know if he wrote the letter himself, no one does I suppose, but he delivered it to Reitzel on Feb 11, 2009.
Many items that Monique purchased and couldn’t explain, she just wrote off to the MARC house. But the MARC house says they don’t have these items. The Satellite Radio was only one of them. And it seems, Randy and Monique’s son Wade had it all that time. The MARC House serves retarded and handicapped people, what a group to take advantage of!!!
